Wheelchair Accessibility
Historic Nauvoo is a wonderful location for individuals and families, regardless of their physical capabilities. In addition to wide streets and beautiful walking paths, several of the buildings in Nauvoo are wheelchair accessible.
The historic buildings in Historic Nauvoo are restored as closely as possible to their original 1840′s state. They are not equipped with ramps or elevators. Sometimes a person in a wheel chair could be helped up a step or two and then gain access to the first floor of those historic sites, but they are not, in a technical sense, “wheel chair accessible.”
Some buildings, however, are used for demonstrations and are not historic restorations. These, along with gardens, monuments, trails, etc., are convenient for wheel chairs. These include the following:
Language Accessibility
Note that whenever possible, we will try to accommodate special language needs. This includes tour guides proficient in American Sign Language. Accommodating other language needs may be possible. Please call in advance to explore this option.
